Thank you for visiting the St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center (ALC) web site. We hope you will find the information here to be helpful as you look at our various programming options. Whether we are serving high school students through our independent study program or first-graders in a summer Targeted Services program, we believe the following:
- All students need to have confidence in themselves as learners, and a respectful, supportive learning environment that helps build that confidence.
- Serving learners means addressing the needs of the whole child.
- Not all students learn at the same pace and in the same way.
- An alternative learning environment fosters independent thinking and self-directed work habits.
- Students are successful when they meet the challenges and rigor appropriate to their academic needs.
As you check out our website, you will be able to do the following:
- get more detailed information about our various programs,
- find the process for application and enrollment,
- see examples of our students at work.
We hope that you will discover what we already know – that students who attend our ALC have much to offer each other and their community.
Sincerely,
Ginny Kruse Rudolph, Director
